New Zealand

7 days

New Zealand is home to a wide expanse of natural wilderness – sublime forests, mountains, lakes, beaches and fiords that have made NZ one of the best hiking destinations on the planet.

Enjoy Milford Sound’s awe-inspiring scenery from the comfort of our modern, spacious vessels. Our Scenic Cruise vessels have purpose-built observation lounges and large decks, so you can be sure you’ll get some great viewing opportunities. You’ll see the geological drama of sheer cliffs, massive waterfalls, glaciers and rainforest. Keep a look out for wildlife like seals basking on the rocks or dolphins. During the cruise, our friendly crew provide commentaries in several languages and point out the sights such as Mitre Peak and the Pembroke Glacier.

Agrodome is an action-packed hour of farming entertainment and education that’s unlike anything you’ve seen before! Our energetic presenter will take you deep into the world of New Zealand farming where you will be introduced to 19 breeds of sheep; you’ll witness a live sheep shearing demonstration and even have the chance to bid on a sheep in our lively auction. But it’s not just about the sheep. Be amazed by the remarkable Huntaway dogs and our Strong-eye Heading dog as they demonstrate their ability to respond to commands and keep those sheep in line!

Te Puia takes its origin from the heritage of the Te Whakarewarewa Valley, with its gushing waters and steaming vents, it’s a place of powerful energies and natural beauty. Maori people have been living in the area for almost 700 years, and Te Puia offers a chance to find out more about Maori, their culture and land. It’s an opportunity to learn about their knowledge and their history, handed down from generation to generation. At Te Puia, guiding is as natural as our humour. It is in our bones. Many guides are the sons and daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren of the guides of old. To this day, many of our guides and staff are the direct descendants of the original people who settled in this valley. They tell stories that have been told for generations and share their own. The special connection our Maori guides have with the land and its history ensures tours at Te Puia are unlike any other in New Zealand.

Then, experience the real Middle-earth with a visit to the Hobbiton Movie Set, the bucolic setting for The Shire that featured in the Peter Jackson directed films, The Lord of the Rings. Your tour starts with a drive through the picturesque 1,250 acre sheep farm with spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges. Your guide will escort you through the ten acre site recounting fascinating details of how the Hobbiton set was created. The Hobbit holes, Green Dragon Inn, Mill and other structures created for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films can be viewed and you will see how this beautiful piece of Waikato farmland was transformed into The Shire from Middle-earth. Upon completion of your tour of the set you will return to The Shires Rest.

Also, visit the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, world renowned and a magnet for both local and overseas visitors, which occupies a high placing in the New Zealand vacation wish-list. The glow worm, Arachnocampa luminosa, is unique to New Zealand. Thousands of these tiny creatures radiate their unmistakable luminescent light as our expert guides provide informative commentary on the Caves’ historical and geological significance. Waitomo Glowworm Caves are a must see for any traveller. Enjoy the world famous boat ride under thousands of magical glowworms and become a part of over 120 years of cultural and natural history.
