Darjeeling often regarded as the Queen of Hill stations, is located in the Mahabharat mountain ranges in the north-eastern part of India. According to legends, the scepter of Indra, the king of Gods, fell in the ancient times hence the name Dorje, which means the precious stone or religious scepter. This beautiful hill city is situated at an average elevation of 6,710 ft, with temperature fluctuating from 9 to 18 degree Celsius. Darjeeling is fast becoming famous for the six T’s- Tea, Tea, Tourism, Toy, Train, Tiger Hill and Trekker’s paradise.

  1. Day 1 Welcome to the “Queen of Hills”; Darjeeling
    You will be received by our tour manager at the Bagodara airport or NJP railway station, if you are coming from within India. And, if you are coming from Nepal, you will be received at Bhadrapur airport in Nepal. Then, you will be transferred to hotel in Darjeeling via private car. We are sure you will start experiencing the enchanting view of hills and tranquility of laidback lifestyle right from the moment you start your drive to hotel. In the evening, welcome meeting, briefing of holiday activities and preparation details. Early sleep to catch up with tomorrow’s early morning activities.
  2. Day 2 Darjeeling Sightseeing tour
    Tiger Hill View:We will start very early at 3:30 and head for Tiger Hill. Tiger Hill, the highest mountain point in Darjeeling, is famous view point located at an altitude of 8400 feet is about 15 km away from city center. Tiger Hill offers the chance to observe the dazzling view of sun emerging and touching the white snow of Mt. Kanchanjunga and Mt. Everest range. Mt. Makalu and the Tibet’s Jomolhari (Chomolhari) can also be viewed on clear day. The sun rays emerging and then painting the Himalayas in pink and then sprinkling in beautiful orange color is sure to jump start your adventure in Darjeeling and collect lifelong memories to cherish. Tour of Ghoom (Ghum) On the return from Tiger Hill, we will visit Ghoom Monastery. Ghoom Monastery is one of the oldest and the largest monasteries in Darjeeling built in 1875. The 15 feet tall statue of “Maitreya Buddha” (the future or coming Buddha) is also another major attraction. The city of Ghum is home to Ghum railway station of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway which is the highest railway station in India situated at an altitude of 74047 ft and listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will head towards Batasia Loop, a bend of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, where the toy train makes double spiral loop negotiating the slope of 100 ft. Along with this engineering masterpiece, there also a War memorial constructed in honor of Gorkha Soldiers. Then back to hotel, breakfast and short rest, we continue our sightseeing tour of Darjeeling. Japanese Peace Pagoda Visit: The Japanese Peace Pagoda constructed by Japanese monks in traditional Japanese architecture was built in 1972. You can observe the scenic beauty of Darjeeling city and the Himalayas from the view point inside the premises. It is about 10 minutes’ drive from city center. Dhirdham Temple visit: The Dhirdham temple, the replica of famous temple of Pashupatinath of Kathmandu, Nepal, lies close to Railway Station. Walk around the Mall and Chowrasta: Chowrasta means fourway and these Chowrasta and the Mall are hub of Darjeeling town. A short walk around the streets will take into the center of life in Darjeeling. The adjoining views of mountains, hill stations full of tea gardens, rhododendron forest complements the amenities of this vibrant hill station. Darjeeling built in 1875. Ava Art Gallery visit: If you are an art lover, this is a must visit place for you in Darjeeling. This art gallery has fine art and embroidery works of late Mrs. Ava Devi. It is located in Hill Cart Road just about 10 minutes’ drive from town center. We head back to hotel for lunch and prepare for more sightseeing tour of Darjeeling late in the day. Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Zoo visit: The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute was built in 1954 to commemorate the success of Everest expedition by Tenzing Norgay. It has since then became a pilgrimage for mountaineering and trekking lovers all over the world. There is residential school for mountaineering students, Swiss style houses for Sherpas and small museum which contains artifacts from various Himalayan expeditions, Tenzing’s personal belongings. Just beside is the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park which is famous for its high altitude wild life park. There are Snow leopard, Red Panda, Wild Wolf of Tibetan origin and Himalayan Black Bear along with Siberian Tiger, Llama and various birds. This zoo has been awarded "The Earth Heroes" in 2014, the first Indian zoo to do so. We will then return back to hotel before stopping at Nightingale Park. Recreation at Nightingale Park: This is an attractive park full of shrubs and waterfalls that spring from Shiv Temple. It has now been officially developed as a cultural spot where Nepali folk dances and music are performed every evening. You can participate or observe these cultural programs and get a taste of the unique cultural heritage of Nepalese ethnicity. Then back to hotel for overnight stay.
  3. Day 3 Happy Valley Tea Estate Visit: We start right after breakfast in hotel and hike to Happy Valley Tea Estate from Chowrasta. It is the old tea estate very near from the city center. Almost all its products are exported to London and other European countries. On the hike, you can enjoy the magnificence of mountain vistas passing by local homes and cottages. Once you reach the Tea Estate, you can observe the process of tea processing. Visit to Tenzing and Gombu Rock These huge rocks located on Lebong Cart Road are named after Tenzing Sherpa and his nephew Nawang Gombu. These rocks are used for climbing practice. Tenzing Rock is the one where Tenzing practiced rock climbing. You can try out if you are feeling up for it, with the help of guide. Ride on Darjeeling Ropeway This is a must activity for all tourists visiting Darjeeling. You view the panoramic view of Darjeeling and river Rangeet along with lush green tea gardens on the slopes, the pristine rivers and waterfalls, and majestic Himalayan ranges. It is also called Rangeet Valley Cable Car. Started in 1968, it is first cable car system in India and was initially setup the access way to tea gardens below. Initially there was only one cable car and now has accommodation of 16 cable cars. This enthralling 45 minutes ride in cable car takes you from Singamari (7000 ft) to Singla Bazar (800 ft). On the way you will pass by Tukvar Village, famous for its large number of beautiful tea estates and then to Burnesbeg before finally reaching the Singla Tea Estate. Lebong Race Course visit: Then we will head for Lebong Race Course, the smallest race course in the world and one of highest located, having lap of 480 yards. It has now been converted into playground. Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center visit: On way back to hotel, we will visit Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center which has become home to Tibetans who fled from Tibet following their religious leader Dalai Lama. Based on principle of self-help, the Tibetans produce different kinds of handicrafts like carpets, jackets, aprons, bags, Tibetan paintings and carved wooden items with delicate piece of artistry in order to live independently by themselves. Overnight stay at hotel.
  4. Day 4 Lebong Race Course visit: Then we will head for Lebong Race Course, the smallest race course in the world and one of highest located, having lap of 480 yards. It has now been converted into playground. Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center visit: On way back to hotel, we will visit Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center which has become home to Tibetans who fled from Tibet following their religious leader Dalai Lama. Based on principle of self-help, the Tibetans produce different kinds of handicrafts like carpets, jackets, aprons, bags, Tibetan paintings and carved wooden items with delicate piece of artistry in order to live independently by themselves. Overnight stay at hotel. You will start the journey from Darjeeling city center and drive to Ghoom and then to Sukhiapokhari which is 11 km from Ghoom. The drive continues through scenic drive passing via the Thurbo tea estate, Gopldhara Tea Estate and several orange plantations along the way. At Jalpokhari, which is just about 2 kms away from Sukhiapokhari, you can view the majestic view of Kanchanjunga. This small hill top has twin lakes surrounded by forests also offers you to get connected with the nature. Then we will reach at Simana, whose literal meaning is ‘the boarder’. This place is boarder between India and Nepal and also serves as viewpoint on small plateu. We stop for a while here. Then from we will head to Mirik on the road that acts as boarder between India and Nepal. Finally after two and half hours of drive, we reach at the beautiful hill station of Mirik. It is located at an altitude of 5000 ft. We will visit the Mirik Monastery where you can observe the view of tranquil village life around this hill station along with lavish tea gardens. Then we head to the Mirik lake where you have the option of boating in the lake, horse riding or simply sitting on the banks to enjoy the view of lake. After 2-3 hours at lake, we can choose for hike around pine forest to further mingle with nature. There is a temple, the Devi Sthan, right in the center of forest where a goddess is worshipped. Later in the day, we will visit the Day Care Center, where you can have snacks or lunch. We will then head to the hill top to view the sunset in the evening. Overnight stay at hotel in Mirik
  5. 5 Departure Breakfast and check out from hotel. Then, our tour guide will accompany you to NJP Railway Station or Bagodara airport to Bhadrapur airport in Nepal, as your preference. The return journey will also allow you to observe memories this beautiful hill station, and you forever cherish your memories of Queen of Hills.
